Behind the building
The architecture, interiors and development team responsible for Sabbia Beach, completed in 2019.
Architecture
Sabbia Beach’s nineteen-story form was designed by Arquitectonica, the Miami firm founded in 1977 by principals Bernardo Fort-Brescia and Laurinda Spear. Its bold modernism helped define Miami’s architectural renaissance, and the practice now spans 54 countries, with well-known work including the Bronx Museum and Westin Times Square in New York, the Hilton Americas in Houston, and the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
At Sabbia Beach, the facade rises in a series of gently undulating curves, with terraces that widen the private outdoor space of the residences behind them and soften a nineteen-story profile as seen from the beach below.
Interior design & landscape
The building’s public spaces — lobby, amenity deck and social room — were appointed by Interiors by Steven G., founded in 1984 by Steven Gurowitz and among the most established interior design firms in Florida, with a 100,000-square-foot headquarters and showroom and a design team working throughout the Eastern Seaboard and internationally.
The beachfront landscaping and dunes were designed by ArquitectonicaGEO, Arquitectonica’s dedicated landscape practice, working from the same architectural language as the tower above.
Development
Sabbia Beach was developed by Fernbrook Florida, LLLP — a partnership between Danny and Joseph Salvatore, who lead Toronto-based Fernbrook Homes, and Federico Fernandez of Grupo Fernandez, one of Venezuela’s largest development and construction companies. Fernbrook’s own condominium work includes L Tower, Pier 27 and the Absolute City Centre in Toronto.
